Our decentralized organization relies on a robust communications strategy in order to foster a sense of togetherness and build an informed and engaged workforce. This strategy recently experienced an exciting upgrade that includes the implementation of a new intranet platform called Jostle. Jostle is an award winning platform, recognized by Constellation as a top 10 Corporate Intranet Platforms in 2018, and a Trend Setting Product by KMWorld in 2016 (to name a few).

The intranet upgrade is part of a larger commitment Cota outlined in our Strategic Plan 2016-2021, to invest in our staff, which stemmed from extensive consultation with employees to determine where the organization could make improvements and reduce barriers in the workplace. This includes employing technology that increases productivity and meets staff needs. Staff were looking for a user/mobile friendly place to collaborate with their colleagues, to remain informed, and access up to date and relevant information.


Thus the introduction of Jostle! Jostle is a powerful software tool that allows Cota to build culture, boost communication, and allows staff to find information readily in a user friendly format. There are a variety of tailored solutions that Cota has found very beneficial, including Jostle’s robust ability to target relevant communications to teams in a variety of formats:

1. E-newsletters: in order to declutter staff email inboxes, Cota identified six types of communications that are now shared/accessed through Jostle. This includes relevant organization updates, mobile safety alerts that notify staff in the community, and the monthly Wellness and Recognition newsletter that provides resources for staff to maintain a healthy work/life balance.

2. Activity feed: Cota’s internal Twitter wall, activity feed celebrates organizational accomplishments through shout-outs created by staff – for staff – and keeps staff up-to-date with relevant events/national awareness days

3. Secure instant messaging and team discussions spearheaded by our highly engaged leadership team
